How I made $1200 on a Sunday morning from a 2hr Webinar

Webinars, by now you have probably attended one or maybe even hosted one of your own! Presenting can be overwhelming for many people – I really enjoy presenting via video and on webinar’s however, get me in a LIVE ROOM and the story changes – this all stems from a harrowing experience as a 12 year old – here let me recap just for kicks!

At the ripe old age of 12 I got selected to be a competitor at the junior schools ‘Speak Out Awards’ – I’m guessing because I loved to speak so much – yes, I was always the kid getting told to shut up, so in their wisdom the teachers thought that I would be a good candidate!

Looking back now, this makes me laugh because as I type this out it really brings forth the fact that you should only present on things you are passionate about – a) It helps you deliver a fantastic presentation as you ooze enthusiasm – I think vaguely my topic was Cruelty to Animals – big mistake #1 – at 12 I didn’t give a rats about cruelty to animals – I thought I should because it was politically correct, don’t get me wrong, I don’t endorse cruelty to animals, but I was never THAT KID who was going to be a vet or an animal activist….! At the time I can remember trying to think of something I was passionate about – nothing came to mind…

ON THE BIG DAY I sat and watched other kids giving presentations on their wonderful student exchange holidays where they got to buy expensive perfume duty free and I remember thinking… poor family, loud Croatian strict father…. boy I should’ve really given the audience a SHOCKING speech – but NO – I chose ‘cruelty to animals’ WHAT WAS I THINKING>!@ By the time I got to the stage, I cared so little about my topic I couldn’t remember my speech, I dropped my palm cards and FROZE whilst the audience laughed at me and the kids made fun of me – that day I vowed to never ever ever get on stage again – and here I am ROFLMAO!

True story, when I first started managing at my old tourism company 6 years ago I was too scared to take brochures in to outlets and talk to people – I kid you not – people who know me now almost hit the floor in SHOCK!

“Yes me, loud, outspoken Kat was too afraid to talk to people – I struggled to sell also as once again it involved talking to people!”

In short – with passion, enthusiasm and a big enough goal it can all be turned around – at the high in my management/marketing career I had an 18.5 seat filled average on a 20 person boat – most companies would do cartwheels for those kinds of conversions – so how did I make it happen?

a) I was fiercely passionate about my topic – I would have and still defend it to the death – THIS IS KEY and

b) Personal development – I devoured everything and everything financial literacy, self help / improvement etc etc

Anyway enough about all of that – now you know more about me – and my trip down memory lane as a cumbersome 12 year old served only to reinforce the fact that now even as an adult – if you’re going to talk about something it’s best to know YOUR TOPIC!

PLR – What it is and How to use it

YouTube Preview Image

“PLR” stands for Private Label Rights, which grants you the right to use content written by someone else as if it were your own.  This usually includes:

  • The right to modify or re-write the material any way you like.
  • The right to insert your own name as the author.
  • The right to sell or give away the material to others.

This creates a lucrative opportunity for internet business owners because they get access to quality written content at very low prices.

Why is PLR content so affordable?

If you’ve ever looked into hiring a ghostwriter, you likely discovered that they don’t work cheap (the good ones, anyway).  They need to set a fair rate to compensate for the time and expertise they devote to each project.

Private label content is much more affordable because the same material is sold to numerous buyers!

Compare:

One ghostwriter selling one project to one client = $1000.00

One ghostwriter selling the same project to 50 buyers at $20.00 each = $1000.00

Would you rather pay $1000.00 for quality content, or $20.00?  This creates a win-win situation for both writer and content buyer!

Balancing Exclusivity With Affordability

Of course, if exclusivity is very important to you, you may hesitate to purchase the same material that other webmasters are also purchasing.  Don’t write off PLR content quite yet!

There are many creative ways to use PLR content that makes it more unique.  Here are just a few ideas:

  • Re-write portions of it and insert your own anecdotes and personal insights.
  • Chop it up and use portions to create an autoresponder e-course.
  • Bundle it with other written material to create an entirely new product.
  • Rearrange or re-write portions of the material and compile a free report for your subscribers.
  • Use PLR content to promote your own products or affiliate products.
  • Use PLR articles as “filler” material for your blog or newsletter.
  • Hire a ghostwriter to slightly modify the material (this is often less expensive than hiring them to write from scratch).

Making Money with PLR

If you are an expert in your field you also have the opportunity to create our own PLR products – PLR being a niche all on it’s own! As I explained in the video, if you are able to create articles, ebooks, reports, videos, software, audio’s etc on a niche topic, you are able to sell the PLR rights to this, creating a whole new income stream – this is something on my ‘to do list’ for 2010 and totally worth considering if you already have a heap of content you have written / created in the passed for your various websites. There are some great articles of the Warrior Forum about this if you would like some indepth information!

Frustrations of a stay at home mum! What balance?

Ok, seems kind of funny that this blog is about balancing work with motherhood, but to be honest I am drowning! It’s pretty darn hard combining the 2! Sometimes I think it would be easier to go to a J.O.B just so that I could sit and concentrate on one thing for a length of time.

It's All about Me!
It’s All about Me!

Alas, this is certainly not the case! Pictured above is my 14 week old baby girl Jessee – she brings me bucket loads of delight – but just this week I have started to feel very stifled – I think the afterglow has worn off and the hormones are returning to normal – so reality is setting in. The reality that I really am a mum, and all that that brings!

It’s exhausting having to be there for someone else 24 hrs a day. Before Jess’s arrival, I wondered how I would cope with this. Being a fiercely independent woman who likes to do what I want – when I want had me wondering whether motherhood would be a good fit for me and I also vowed not to let ‘work’ come between me and being a fantastic mother!

“I think a life time of guilt is born with the baby”

I think a life time of guilt is born with the baby; DO I USE THE FISHER PRICE ELECTRIC SWING TOO MUCH? AM I FEEDING HER ENOUGH? DO I HAVE ENOUGH MILK? MAYBE I NEED TO PUT HER IN A ROUTINE?! but they say not to do that until 6 months….

So anyway, my baby is out there in her electric swing right now wide awake as i type this out – not crying – so should I feel guilty? I am desperate to get myself in to some kind of a routine; but let me recap my last 14 weeks for you:

  • Had a baby, who needed a hip brace which she hated, this made her miserable
  • Had to overcome breast feeding difficulties as feeding with the brace exceptionally hard (most women go to formula) but not I – I forged through
  • Have had a very ill husband who has needed medical treatment which means I have had to leave my home to reside 1200km’s away from it – which means…
  • I have moved house 3 times, been bouncing around between family and a fully furnished rental – which I am moving out of today – to move to my brothers (which isn’t so bad as he’s a fitness nazi and I desperately need to get in to a fitness regime for my sanity)

“I’ve tried EVERYTHING, we’ve walked to the beach I drove her around for 20 mins

and now… a clingy baby, I am the only one who can settle her, she won’t have a bar of daddy, and despite what I once thought, typing with a baby on your lap is virtually IMPOSSIBLE! Last week I went to a swimming lesson induction and had to leave Jess with daddy, half an hour in to it I got “THE CALL” an exhausted frustrated husband saying “I’ve tried EVERYTHING, we’ve walked to the beach I drove her around for 20 mins – which mind you I could only barely hear over the gut wrenching screams in the background…. so she came to sit with me in the meeting (which wasn’t allowed but they made an exception as they could hear Jess’s screams when I answered the call!

Blah, so that’s it – life as a stay at home internet mummy…. I am starting to go nuts, this week she has decided to stop sleeping through the night to wake up – oh 4 or five times or so - SERIOUSLY??!!

I want to make movies, resume http://beginnersblogging.com start my new site doing video marketing training….  finish my Consulting Tycoon course and build a new Internet Marketing Business… all with WHAT TIME?? If I work late in to the night – I can’t stop, then I have to wake to feed Jess, then I end up a mess (am very irritated when tired), then throughout the day my little diva just wants mummy cuddles – I know there is a light at the end – right now I have to try and establish a good routine to overcome this hurdle!

Profiting from Your Knowledge

Is it really possible to use your internet marketing knowledge to make a 6 figure income offline?

I just finished making this video to discuss the Consulting Tycoon course by Kyle Tully. When I saw this I immediately became EXCITED. As many people I know, know I “do stuff online” I often get asked to get websites etc done for small offline businesses – to this point I have always declined as I have been purely focused online. HOWEVER the bangs have kept coming on the door, louder and louder until simply, I could no longer ignore the facts! Small Business needs help with Internet Marketing – they have very little knowledge on the subject and they are constantly being shafted in to spending their marketing dollars with strategies that just don’t convert!

The Consulting Tycoon course is basically a course that will take you by the hand and show you the EXACT steps you need to take in order to set yourself up your own consulting business; the results from previous students is nothing short of remarkable.

Do offline business internet marketers need to be technical?

We discuss technical versus marketing skills. Putting together a business is going to involve some basic technical learning. If you can learn these things even a little you can put your self into a position where you can outsource later anyway. When you outsource the technical stuff you can know what to expect from outsourcing and you can fix things on the spot if you have to. Being able to talk about these things confidently will give you a boost when it comes to talking to offline clients. Professional web clients (corporates) will happily pay you to make small changes. You can outsource this and charge the client. We discussed the ‘done for you’ with a maintenance service model. Kyle says clients want this and I agree.

One time fee or recurring income?
You can do both – obviously a recurring income rocks the house! It’s total security!

Just do it for yourself or do it for others?
Providing a service for others is a great way to start cash flow and get great experience.
The average business owner has a very low level of knowledge about Internet Marketing. Even with a small exposure to internet marketing and solid offline consulting strategies you will be able to impress.

Success stories
Some of Kyles students have started out with a good mindset and created a very good business within a short period of time.

Ex-Retiree Liz Made $12,000 Her First Month

Liz told me she had spoken with 14 businesses… landed 8 as clients… and still had the other 6 ‘on the back burner’. Here’s what she told me during a Skype chat…

“I couldn’t handle more clients if I wanted… 2 a week is a really, really nice income. The prices I’m charging are a LOT higher than I was getting through affiliate marketing”

Obviously the results speak for themselves. I hope this leaves you all warm and fuzzy with the thoughts of infinite possibilities!

Beating Web Problems

DO YOU EVER FEEL LIKE TAKING TO YOUR COMPUTER WITH A HAMMER EVERY TIME YOU HAVE TO WORK ON YOUR WEBSITES OR LANDING PAGES?? Leave me a comment below to tell me what your BIGGEST Internet Marketing frustrations are!~

I don’t know about you, but personally the technical aspects of running an online business drive me absolutely nuts!

Although I am proficient in working with WordPress, I am far from a web designer and I will readily admit I have NO IDEA how to put together a single web page! In the passed I have outsourced graphic designers and website companies to do the work for me, which has cost a small fortune and a great deal of time – I won’t even go in to the time a company messed me around with a design theme I was creating to sell – 6 weeks overdue I fired them – and the project went in the bin – extremely frustrating to say the least!

One web template cost me $150 and I didn’t know how to upload it and turn it in to a web page so it cost me more money to get someone to do it for me as I had NFI and if you don’t know what NFI is – it is short for NO effing idea! Working with websites seems to bring out the worse in me – there are teeth marks in the mac book – ok – kidding – but seriously, if you have been working online and are not a technical guru – just like me – I’m sure by now you feel my pain!

I have had so many ideas pop in to my head – but have been left frustrated not knowing how to turn the idea in to a web page, sales funnel, opt in – you name it – I have needed it done, but either short on time or cash I haven’t got it done. (Yes, there were plenty of times in the early days I couldn’t afford to pay someone to do it – so scraped by on my own!) This may also sound familiar!

BUT NOW – NOW MY FRIENDS I AM DOING A PRIVATE VICTORY DANCE – doing a conga on my own around the house – the 3 month old and husband don’t seem to share my enthusiasm –

because I finally got in here! : http://WebWorkDone.com

I tried to join up a few months back but places sold out (in my stupidity I thought it was just one of those BS time limited things – like they say places are limited so you’ll buy now, create scarcity raddah raddah – so I didn’t jump in – well to my astonishment by the time I made my mind up to do it – it was closed! I have kicked myself ever since and patiently remained on a waiting list – as survey sites have not been created, landing pages not created a whole pile of things that could have been making me money have not been created because I don’t know how to do it and I don’t have the TIME to try and nut it out! (babies are sooooo TIME consuming!)

Basically what I have joined and what I am writing this post about is one of the best darned things I have EVER seen online!  I have just joined a web support team who will do all of my crappy jobs for me!!! Can you see why I’m dancing>?? If you would like to join in my conga line check it out here:
