Webinar Profits: 2 weeks wage in 2 hours

A while back now I built up some credibility within a Ning community – purely just by helping people. I enjoy helping others succeed and don’t expect anything in return, I just trust in karma and the law of attraction – like attracts like right – so profoundly, I find if I help people, I seem to have an endless stream of people willing to help me – it’s fantastic!

What can happen though; is what happened to me – too many people and not enough time – so I decided to present a webinar where I could get everybody in the room at one time and help them all at once, this is pure LEVERAGE. To leverage this even further I recorded the event with the intent of turning it in to a product to sell down the track. It was the first time I did anything like this and everything that could go wrong went wrong.

That day I learned that it was pretty much impossible to transfer my knowledge and skills on the subject in one day – I left my audience overwhelmed and lost – which was far from the desired outcome. I also had my usual share of technical difficulties associated with these kinds of things; I accidentally deleted over an hour of the recording, I couldn’t get the movies to compress and upload online and then when I did people complained that they couldn’t see what was happening.

It was pretty embarrassing to say the least but I learned a lot from the experience.

“But Kat, I couldn’t do a webinar!”

Sometimes, stepping outside of our comfort zone can be really scary; for me I had plenty of doubts and self defeating thoughts.

“I don’t know enough”

“Who am I to be pretending I’m an EXPERT?!”

This yukky stuff came up for me – I really didn’t have much faith in myself- but desperate for success I did it anyway!

I learned so many valuable lessons that day, although things went wrong; a lot went right in the grander scheme of things. I have since come to realize and truly actually believe that you don’t have to know EVERYTHING to get started, no one will ever know EVERYTHING, but if you woke up this morning knowing how to do something that other people want to learn, well then you already know more than them and that is who you talk to!

In short, I made the same amount of money presenting that 2 hour seminar than I did working for my employer full time – just by sharing what I had to share. No it wasn’t PERFECT but it gave me a new level to work from!

PUBLIC SPEAKING

For a long time I was petrified of public speaking!

In short – with passion, enthusiasm and a big enough goal it can all be turned around – at the high in my management/marketing career I had an 18.5 seat filled average on a 20 person boat – most companies would do cartwheels for those kinds of conversions – so how did I make it happen?

a) I was fiercely passionate about my topic – I would have and still defend it to the death – THIS IS KEY and

b) Personal development – I devoured everything and everything financial literacy, self help / improvement etc etc
